6/15/21: IVAR DE BRIQUEMAULT AND CECILE RIVES // “CORRESPONDENCES” // 2021

Working within defined parameters, Ivar’s work initiating from a found image and Cecile from a composition, the two apply restrictions to themselves only to immediately turn around and look to find the most expressive way out.

In those boundaries they each discover freedom from the inside, slowly, carefully, manipulating the materials they are given with consideration, culminating in a true expression based on love, rooted in the desire to share. The result is loud and pure, raw and defined, clear and so very unclear.

In short, expressions in their purest form.

Ivar and Cecile are a couple who work individually sometimes collaborating on shows they call “Correspondences”. For their installation at us, Ivar has presented 12 paintings and Cecile is performing the 9 pieces listed below, in the Winter Garden of the Citè Radieuse, as well as one dance piece on the roof in the style of  Loie Fuller.
